Residents have funny stories. Most of them have never been asked to share one in a group setting. This program creates a structure where they can: safely, with full control over what they share, and with a room that's set up to receive it.

The intake card goes out one or two days before the session. Residents write down (or dictate) a funny memory. Some will. Some won't. Either is fine. The session works both ways.

What you get:

  • Resident intake cards to gather stories before the session
  • Structured group sharing format with timing and facilitation cues
  • Exact language for drawing out quiet residents
  • Techniques for getting the room laughing together
  • Consent-friendly format: residents choose what to share, passing is always allowed
  • Works with groups of 4 to 15 residents

Your job in this program is not to be funny. Your job is to get the story out and make the storyteller feel celebrated. The more credit you give the resident, the more the room opens up. This guide tells you exactly how to do that.

Genuine, specific stories generate laughter on their own. This program is set up to produce them.
